Mission Statement:

The Hispanic Business Student Association is a student-run organization dedicated to providing a unique cultural experience. The experience develops business leaders – by cultivating professional relationships, serving as an educational support system, and fostering networking opportunities – to serve as advocates for the advancement of the Latino community. HBSA takes it upon itself to help students and the community through its initiatives.

Initiatives:

HBSA Scholarship Fund

The Scholarship Program was established two years ago to provide students with opportunities that would enable them to reach their business career goals. The number of Hispanic students at the University of Washington Business School Undergraduate Program does not reflect the growing population in the Northwest region. Furthermore, many students in the past have been forced to suspend their education at the Business School program because they were not able to meet their financial needs.

Membership Development

HBSA strives to make its members prepared for life after college while still having fun. Our membership development initiative includes bringing in company representatives to talk about topics relevant to our members, having workshops, make our members financially literate, and attending other events and conventions.

Financial Literacy

HBSA recognizes how vital a financially literate population is and strives to make all of its members financially literate as well as others in the community. In the communty, HBSA sends its members to high schools to give financial seminars developed by the FDIC, the Money Smart program. By making more latinos in high schools financially literate, HBSA hopes to help empower the future generations of latinos.
